About

In the chilly month of December in the year of our Lord, 2004, Matthew Ray Plummer and A’Mari Jo Rocheleau met at an audition-y sort of thing for their Wills Point High School theatre. Being paired together for a scene reading in which a retarded daughter was discussed (irrelevant detail), they never imagined that they would be looking at their future BFF.

After many afternoons under the giant air vent of their high school stage, A’Mari with her crispy chicken salads, and Matt with his ever-present 1,000 watt smile and wheelchair, their friendship blossomed into something that can only be deemed “ridiculous”.

Then Matt went to college. And A’Mari was left in high school.

This sucked.

Then A’Mari got out of high school. And went to college. Conveniently the same one as Matt- three cheers for Texas A&M University- Commerce! …or not.

And so it came to pass that they got to spend another 3 whole years together, with many adventures, trips to McDonald’s, and failed romantic relationships to show for it! But these good times couldn’t last forever…

In the spring of 2011, Matt was offered a bomb-diggity spot in the Texas Tech theatre program in Lubbock, Texas. And A’Mari was stuck in a small town in Texas…again.

So this is a blog about our (Matt & A’Mari) journey through the biggest separation we’ve ever had. After 7 years of being no more than an hour & 15 minutes away from each other, being all the way across Texas from each other is kind of scary. Okay…a lot scary. So tune in to get a glimpse into how we handle being miles apart and to get an inside look at how our friendship works.

A’Mari Jo Rocheleau is currently a senior theatre major at Texas A&M University- Commerce, and is rocking some killer roller skates while carhopping at Sonic in Seven Points, Texas. In her spare time she enjoys talking to her bff, Mattie Plummer, reading, partying it up with her awesome parents, taking care of her pets, Chester the Huskie dog, MacDuff the fish, and Nugget the turtle, performing in plays, attempting to become the next Dr. Carrie Klypchak, and obsessing over random stuff.

A’Mari’s Current Obsessions: Darren Criss, Team Starkid, Glee, Red Vines.

Matthew Ray Plummer is currently attending Texas Tech University pursuing his MFA in Scenic Design. At the age of 2 he was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy and uses a wheelchair for mobility as well as to “Woo” the ladies. Woo ladies, ;). In his spare time he enjoys playing guitar, dabbling with photography/video production, laughing at/with A’Mari, and daydreaming. He hopes to one day open a theatre with A’Mari that specializes in integrating people with disabilities on and off stage. He is also an avid supporter of her ever-changing obsessions.
